the present day... |
This site brings together the work of two quite distinct, but curiously related individuals.
The ''an introduction'' link will shed more light on the past and their relationship. Other links are we hope self-explanatory. |
Current work and ideas are now all generated in the Pennine village of Marsden, West Yorkshire, where we both relocated, from London and Scotland in 2005. Two old stone houses overlooking the Huddersfield Narrow Canal have been quietly connected by a small, first-floor door; and there's a fairly cavernous but manageable light-industrial unit down near the village centre for working and thinking and hiding.
|
The houses - both of which were semi-derelict - were bought in 2001 and six years of shoe-string rebuilding work is yet one more reason why we have both failed so spectacularly to produce as much art as we should have done over any given period of time. That, and a shared fascination for almost anything other than the things we should be doing - be it: music, hiking, rebuilding old boats, chess, photography, thinking, song-writing, scrabble, cycling canal paths and sampling single malts, etc., etc... But finally - we are back and ready, as Beckett's Molloy might have said, to begin again... Lives have been lived and stories unfolded, and with the death of our third and final cat, Max, the stage seemed desolate and ready for a new dawn. |
The pieces on this website - (and slumbering in reality under a moon, or haze-washed sun in West Yorkshire) - cover a wandering range of styles and techniques... but they all (attempt to) have one essential thing in common:
they unite the landscape we exist upon and within; with the internal landscape we exist within and upon.
Stories are told and ''places'' are explored...
We hope you might find objects and ideas of interest... thank you...
